Let's talk about patriotism. CLP (Central Leadership Program) Beacon of Excellence Adel's post on her hope for the future of a new Africa got me really thinking. Why on earth would anyone still have hope in Africa? This Africa especially? Was it just a formality, or a random stint of madness?

Then it hit me hard! As I reflected I began asking a lot of questions. Why do we want to leave the country? Why have we all given up? What is the main issue here? The majority of those reasons are our leadership. Our leaders are “trash”, y'all would say.

But then, when we sing the song "Arise Ghana youth for your country, the nation demands your devotion" what do we really mean? Who are we pledging our devotion/allegiance to? Is the pledge of our allegiance to the nation or to our leaders?

Definitely, our allegiance has been pledged to the nation and not to its leaders. The concept of allegiance teaches us to have loyalty at its highest peak towards the nation. Loyalty stands with the nation through thick and thin, in good and bad times. Loyalty to the nation keeps that ego bee spirit and contributes in one way or the other towards the development of the country. Loyalty puts in its all to ensure that the nation gets better!

Loyalty doesn't run away from the nation when there's trouble. The nation doesn't only need our loyalty, it demands it! We have absolutely no choice as Ghanaians.

It's why I'm pleased to announce that in all loyalty, I would commit to seeing the country develop from outside Africa. I would still love the country when I do get out there, and I would always have the country in my prayers. Ha, Just kidding. Let’s do this guys! We’ve got this.
