As I prepared for my Compilers paper yesterday, I felt compelled to tell you about the story of a guy named Isaac. But laziness set in so I wasn't able to complete it. Nonetheless, here we go.

Isaac was born in England as a premature baby, tiny enough to fit his mom's milk jug. Sadly, by the time of his birth, his dad had already been dead for three months. To make matters worse, his mum remarried soon after that and left poor Isaac to live alone with his grandmother.

Fortunately, he was afforded the privilege of attending school and yet unfortunately he fared terribly. The school was a huge challenge for him, coupled with the fact that Isaac was always bullied.

By the time he was 16, his family had decided that his being in school was a bad investment and a waste of everyone's time. As a result, he had to drop out of school and learn to make a living as a farmer. In the preceding months, Isaac was put in charge of the family farm. BIG MISTAKE!

Isaac knew absolutely nothing about farming and within a year his family's entire farm was on the verge of bankruptcy. After this incident, Isaac was sent off to study at Trinity College in Cambridge, where he spent the rest of his life with his nose in all kinds of books. Sadly, he never even get married too.

All in all, Isaac was a huge loser. Or was he?

Isaac Newton, the good-for-nothing failed student, failed farmer and big-time loser went on to become the discoverer of gravity, and the inventor of Calculus.

What am I saying? Newton has transferred his life's miseries unto us. We are tired!

On a more serious note, though, I tell you this tale to serve as a reminder that the beginning and the conclusion are hardly the same. Some people might have to nurture their goals for years while waiting for the proper opportunity; they could even have to accomplish this while facing many obstacles, heartbreaks, and restrictions imposed by "advice" from others. Their goals could appear to be drifting away with little possibility of fulfilment.

If this describes you, then hear this today: If Isaac Newton failed, then you can succeed too! With God, your options are virtually limitless.
