The Insane Ubiquity of Plastic Chairs

I was at a program (that didn't serve item 13) the other day and I got so fascinated about an object so ubiquitous that we tend to underestimate its presence and importance to modern society. You've all seen one before, you've all used one before. In fact, I can guarantee that you've likely used one this week.

Let's talk about plastic chairs!

I know. I know. I know I'm crazy, because which human sets out to think, read, and even write about plastic chairs? Especially when his country's Parliament just passed 3 new insane tax bills. But hear me out.

These chairs are made from polypropylene plastic, which is a thermoplastic polymer known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, resistance to chemicals, and great ability to withstand high temperatures. (because of course, I have to splash in some big science words here and there to build credibility, but they're not important to the point I'm trying to make).

These plastic stackable chairs, as I realised, have defined the way we commune as a people and have made all kinds of events possible. Their mobile nature means they're easy to move around, their affordability means that it's easy to buy them in bulk, and their light weight means they're accessible and anyone at all can carry them, or drag them along.

Imagine for a second what event organisers would have had to do to comfortably accommodate a large number of guests in their events. Imagine the scenes and costs as they transport benches, sofas or wooden chairs to and from events. Incredible!

Or just think about how these chairs have made it easier for individuals to create impromptu seating arrangements. A group of people want to meet for a short diswan? Bam plastic chairs! Starting a church? Ha, they've got you covered. Your 100-person wedding that would certainly be over attended by 200 more people? Plastic chairs to the rescue!

Their versatility becomes more insane if you include their counterpart plastic tables.

And oh, let's not even add how they're easy to clean and maintain, leading to their longevity. And the versatility of their designs even means that they can potentially fit in everywhere! Indoors, outdoors, through the doors? Everywhere man! Just name it, they can be used.

The fact that they're stackable sef means they're even super easy to store! No wonder they can be found in every corner of the globe. Even in Antarctica, I'm sure.

Let's not talk though about their environmental sustainability, as that's their only drawback. 👀 Who cares about the environment anyways? Plastic chairs for the win!

On a more serious note though, what's the moral of this post? Learn to serve item 13 at your events, it helps us concentrate. Thank you! ❤️
